Strategic BladeRunners

BladeRunners is a youth-employability program for ages 15-30 who are underemployed or unemployed. (And who are not in full-time studies.)

Through this no-cost program, you can access skills, certification, experience, and connections to gain employment.

We offer both individual and cohort delivery methods.

By going the individual route, the program can be customized to meet your needs and life.

BladeRunners provides a minimum of 35 hours of industry training, as well as a minimum of 35 hours of employability training.

Some examples of BladeRunners cohort opportunities have included Drone Operation, Traffic Flagging, Customer Service, Occupational First Aid, and more.

Participants usually receive some basic equipment needed for the job (steel-toed boots, for example), plus help along the way with resume updates.

Lunch and snacks are provided; there can be assistance with transport or transport costs, and those who complete the cohort receive a moderate amount of money as a completion bonus.

BladeRunners is delivered by Ktunaxa Nation Council Education and Economic Sector, on behalf of funding partners WorkBC and Government of Canada.

To recap, as a BladeRunners participant you will receive:

  • Training by professionals in small groups or as an individual
  • Certification (if it’s a certification program, such as FoodSafe)
  • Lunches and snacks
  • Usually some level of support for basic, necessary equipment
  • Assistance with transport to attend the program as available
  • Coaching from the BladeRunners team along the way (resumes, time management, skills coaching)
  • A completion bonus (usually a few hundred dollars)
  • New connections to potential job opportunities and employers
