The Education and Employment Sector works strategically with business and industry to develop relationships that will benefit citizens and clients in reaching career goals.

In some instances such as with Teck, there is a formal agreement that allows us to create specialized pathways within the recruitment processes that ensures citizens are provided an interview and feedback.

We also have agreements with other industry such as Canfor and BC Hydro that provide annual bursaries that the Education and Employment Sector administer to support Ktunaxa students pursuing various post-secondary programs.

Industry engagement is not just done broadly.

The Education and Employment team will also pursue relationships based on an individual citizen or client’s career goal.

When a citizen or client has identified a specific career target through the Individual Training Plan process, part of the plan may include collaborating to target a specific business with a goal of carving an employment or on-the-job training opportunity.

At times, these connections have resulted not only in success for that specific client or citizen, but has opened up a broader interest in providing ongoing employment and training opportunities.

The Education and Employment Sector are always interested in growing these partnerships with businesses and industry that want to understand our capacity building interests and have the resources and willingness to support these priorities.
