The Education and Employment Sector strives to deliver innovative and holistic programs and services.
These are designed to support Ktunaxa and other Indigenous peoples residing in ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa to reach their career, employment, education and capacity-development goals.
Every day, we focus on creating a comfortable environment for Ktunaxa and other clients to come and share their hopes, dreams and challenges, so we can work beside them and support their success.
The Education and Employment Sector is guided by the Ktunaxa Nation Vision Statement (specifically, the ‘working-together’ component). In March of 2018, sector council and key staff worked together to develop the mission statement for the sector.
“Strong, healthy citizens and communities, speaking our languages and celebrating who we are and our history in our ancestral homelands, working together, managing our lands and resources, within a self-sufficient, self-governing Nation.”
“We are Ktunaxa Citizen-Centered, working creatively and strategically with ʔaqⱡsmaknik̓, in ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa, to support and empower Indigenous people in reaching their full potential, achieving self-sufficiency and overall desired quality of life.”

Kiʔsuʔk kyukyit,
My name is Codie Morigeau and I am the interim Director of the Education and Employment Sector.
I have spent a lot of my career working for the Ktunaxa Nation providing employment and training services, and consider the work I have done in assisting citizens and clients some of the most rewarding experiences I have had the privilege to be part of.
To me, employment counseling is a relationship of reciprocity.
As employment workers, we must be ready to meet people where they are at, and prepared to match their effort in meeting goals.
Success is a very personal definition, and means different things to different people. Our goal is to understand a person’s vision of success and then to help develop realistic plans to achieve this vision.
I encourage people to come and meet the Education and Employment staff and to share with them your dreams and career interests.
As I explained to people over the years, you can sit and think about what you want to do while time continues to pass by; or you can get started on some foundational steps towards your general goals and open more opportunities in the process.
