Cultural Knowledge Transmission

Culture Camps

We host and support a variety of cultural workshops and culture camps for Ktunaxa ʔakⱡsmaknik.

Our most recent cultural workshops included,

  • Feather Fan Making
  • Pendleton Coats

We also have an in-house Ktunaxa artist (Darcy Luke, Project Officer) who illustrates resource materials like Ktunaxa legends, this website, storybooks, and our internal communications.

Elder Secretariat

We receive many requests from schools, industry, government and other organizations who would like a Ktunaxa Elder for special events or for a variety of projects.

The Elder Secretariat, Darcy Luke, is the point person who receives these calls and directs them to the appropriate Elder.

This relieves Elders from receiving random calls and having to coordinate communication and event logistics.

To reach the Elder Secretariat by phone, call 250-489-2464.

Research & Engagement Requests

If you are seeking to work with us for a research project, or have an engagement request, please visit Research & Engagement Requests on the Ktunaxa Hakq̓yit engagement site.

Or, find the same information on our Research & Engagement page.

Elders Gathering

The Elders Gathering is a great way for Elders from all over to come together and reconnect with long-time friends and make new connections. It’s an annual event hosted in a different B.C. city each year.

We work with ʔakisq̓nuk, ʔaq̓am, yaqan nuʔkiy and Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡiʔit to support Ktunaxa Elders to travel and attend the annual Elders Gathering. Information about the 2023 Elders Gathering can be found here.
